Welcome to Elphrona Outpost!

This community was established as a refuge by a Jedi fan for Jedi fans and is positivity-focused: focus on what you love, not what you dislike. There is practically a guarantee that someone here will love what you hate and vice versa; this is not the place for character or ship bashing. To be clear: Jedi negativity and hate are not welcome here and will get you banned.

In general, this community welcomes fanwork posting, discussion, meta, resources, and pretty much everything fannish under the sun. If you want to ask for advice, do so! You’re looking for some obscure bit of canon, ask for help! You want to talk about your favorite scene or line of dialogue, go for it! You want to link to a fic you just posted on AO3 or another site, please do! (Though feel free to post it here as well.) Everything from silly to serious is welcome here.

I encourage you to leave links in the comm to events happening in the wider Star Wars fandom. There is also a prompts post available for you to leave fanwork prompts at.

RULES

1. Elphrona Outpost is a positive-focused, open-minded space. We welcome newbies and fandom olds alike. Furthermore, we are not interested in finding a One True Canon but exist to consider the many ways that texts can be interpreted and used to make fanfiction and other transformative works. Drama, trolling, and other negative-focused communications are not welcome here.

Spoilers must be warned for a month after an episode airs, a book is published, etc.

2. Elphrona Outpost accepts all types of fanworks, including fanfiction, meta, art, rec lists, etc.. This includes all kinds, genres, ratings, and types of fanworks, regardless of relationship, sexual content, interpretation of canon, and length. “Ship and let ship” and “your area of interest is not mine and that’s okay” are the general rules here.

3. Due to the above, you will potentially come across fanworks you disagree with, you dislike, or are squicked or triggered by. It is your responsibility to avoid engaging with them. This is made possible by the required header and use of a cut to hide any non-discussion post. If you start reading something and it’s not to your liking, use the back button and do not comment.

4. If you are asking for advice on how to deal with a negative fannish situation, do not name names. For example, it’s not okay to say “So-and-so just posted an anti-Jedi screed on one of my Tumblr posts; how do I deal with this?” It is okay to say, “How do I deal with people who post anti-Jedi stuff on my posts?”

5. Do not drop links without information about what they are. One or two sentences of description is enough. For example: “a YouTube video about the Jedi.”

6. Do not post links to pirated material such as books, movies, or episodes. Any posts or comments containing them will be summarily deleted.

7. Abusive or derogatory behavior will not be tolerated at any time. We do not welcome or allow any content in this group that is designed to be hurtful or insulting, whether it be based on real world -isms or based in fannish opinions such as ship wars.

Members are not required to like everyone, but they are required to be civil. If you dislike another member, do not interact with them. If a conflict arises between you and another member, contact [personal profile] independence1776 for assistance. Do not engage further in the conflict.

8.  We generally observe a three-strike rule, but this is contingent on the member demonstrating that they are willing to abide by our rules and showing efforts to improve. If the moderator(s) feel that someone is acting deliberately to harm Elphrona Outpost and/or its members, or we see repeated rule violations with no attempt at improvement, we reserve the right to remove that person from the community without prior warning.

Our moderator(s) are also contributing members of Elphrona Outpost who interact with other members. Members should be aware that moderators will not address private issues or concerns through any public systems. Unless a public post or conversation warrants a public response, all such correspondence will be conducted through private messages or email; whether public or private, communications from moderators acting as moderators will be clearly identified as such aka Mod Hat On. In all other matters, moderators carry the same status as everyone else.

Fanwork Posting Header Format

For the title of your post, use the format ‘Fanwork Format: “Fanwork Title” by Creator’ (e.g., Fanfic: “A Story About Jedi” by Star Wars Fan).

Copy and paste the form below into the body of the post. All fields are required, except for the optional notes. If one or more does not apply, please use "none" or N/A or the like. Using a cut is also required for all works. Ratings are general, teens, mature, adult. (Gen is NOT a rating; it’s a fic genre that can include fic of all ratings.)

Required warnings: noncon/rape, incest, explict sex, graphic violence, underage, major character death. You may also use None Apply or Choose Not to Warn or add others you feel necessary. Choose Not to Warn indicates that the work may contain anything, including potentially triggering or explicit content. Participants who wish to avoid certain content should make their own decisions on whether to read or view CNTW entries.

<cut>FANWORK GOES HERE</cut>

If you wish to post a link to your fanwork on another site: you need to fill out the header, but you do not need to use a cut if you are only linking to your fanwork. Instead, just add the link to your creation after the summary. If you are both linking to and posting your fanwork here, you still need to use a cut.

TAGGING

~ It’s necessary to have one standardized form of every tag. Dreamwidth doesn’t work like AO3; we have no power to “syn” or connect different versions of the same tag behind the scenes. If one person tags as ‘character: ben kenobi’ and another person tags ‘character: obi-wan kenobi,’ DW treats them as two completely separate tags. So please use the existing form of the tag, if there is one.

~ For those more familiar with AO3 or Tumblr: tagging on Dreamwidth is solely for organizational purposes within a community or journal. There is no need for tags such as “jedi” or “star wars fanfic” or the like.

~ Dreamwidth has autocomplete for tags, meaning that it will try to guess what tag you meant from the letters you’ve typed so far. This can be both helpful and confusing. If you’ve only typed in a few letters, it will almost certainly autocomplete to the wrong thing. That’s fine! Just ignore it and keep typing the correct tag, or correct it to what you want.

~ Tags are currently open for anyone to create. The community is limited to 1000 tags.

~ Tag formatting:
  • Advice: fandom, Disney canon, Legends canon
  • Canon: Disney canon, Legends canon, original trilogy, prequels, sequels, tv shows, video games
  • Discussion
  • Fandom event
  • Fanwork: fanfic, meta, art, graphics, playlist, moodboard, gifset, vid, podfic, cosplay, craft
  • Rating: general, teens, mature, adult
  • Resource: fandom, Disney canon, Legends canon, behind the scenes
  • Character: use their full name, please. If a character has more than one, use your discretion. For example: Caleb Dume and Kanan Jarrus would likely be best under Kanan Jarrus. Darth Vader and Anakin Skywalker are more ambigious and which fits best likely depends on the fanwork.
  • Relationships: use & for platonic and / for romantic or sexual. Do NOT use smushnames.
If you don't have an account you can create one now.
HTML doesn't work in the subject.
